Meet Our New Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division Chief, Dr. Ruth Lathi
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ruth Lathi as the new Division Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at Stanford University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective January 2025. Dr. Lathi brings an impressive legacy of expertise, research accomplishments, and leadership in reproductive health and endocrinology, making her exceptionally suited to lead our REI division.
Dr. Lathi’s academic journey began with a B.S. in Molecular Biology from MIT, followed by her M.D. at UCSF. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She began fellowship in REI at Stanford in 2000, and has since held numerous leadership positions including Director of Clinical Operations, Stanford Fertility, Director of Multispecialty Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Program, and Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Fellowship program.
Dr. Lathi’s contributions have been exemplary. During her time in the division, she has had substantial clinical and administrative responsibilities, while continuing vital NIH-funded research on genetic and environmental factors affecting reproductive health, recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), and in vitro fertilization and preimplantation genetic screening as they relate to RPL. Her investigative work continues to impact the field. advancing patient-centered care for complex fertility issues.
In addition to her contributions to Stanford, Dr. Lathi serves as the Vice President-elect for the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialists and an ABOG subspecialty oral board examiner.
Dr. Lathi’s leadership and dedication to advancing patient care and innovation in reproductive endocrinology will be invaluable in her role as Division Chief. We look forward to supporting her as she builds on the division’s strengths, enhances our research impact, and cultivates a dynamic environment for our team and the patients we serve.
