Advanced Clerkships
Advanced clerkships, sometimes called sub-internships (or sub-Is), are a chance for fourth year medical students to dive deeper into specialties of interest within our department while picking up additional training and experience managing and providing complex and compassionate patient care. Advance clerkships can help students make a decision about future residency plans and provide preparation for any field. We are proud to offer 7 courses that build on the required Obstetrics and Gynecology Core Clerkship that students complete in their third year.
Note for Visiting Students: OBGYN 304A, 305A, 306A, 307A, and 308A are open to visiting students during Periods 1–12. OBGYN 302A is available to visiting students during Periods 1–6. Visiting students must obtain pre-approval prior to applying for the clerkship. To request pre-approval, interested students must submit the required materials through Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO), which includes a curriculum vitae (CV), USMLE score report(s), a current official transcript, and one letter of recommendation from an Ob/Gyn Clerkship Director or faculty mentor attesting to the student’s clinical abilities (i.e. proficient H&Ps and exam skills). All materials must be submitted at least 4–6 weeks prior to the start of the desired clerkship period. Please refer to the course catalogue for additional clerkship details.
