Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility
New Hope for Infertility
Welcome to the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Center at Stanford University Medical Center. Recent studies reveal that as many as 15 percent of couples in the U.S. are considered infertile — that is, they are unable to conceive a child after one year of unprotected intercourse. While infertility may have complicated, sometimes multiple physical causes, it can also exact an emotional toll.
Couples having difficulty conceiving a child can now look to the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Center at the Stanford University Medical Center for one of the nation’s most comprehensive and progressive treatment programs.
All of us at the Stanford REI Center are committed to providing you, the patient, with the most advanced medical treatment available, offered in an empathetic and caring environment. Our staff includes some of the country’s leading embryologists, reproductive endocrinologists, clinical nurses and technicians. We maintain strong associations with experts in other related specialties, enabling us to provide individualized, multidisciplinary care to each patient.
The Stanford REI Center offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art services with a personal and caring touch.
Our goal is to develop a treatment plan that is mindful of the emotional and lifestyle needs of our patients.
Our hospital provides world class inpatient and surgical facilities with some of the most advanced technological equipment available. In fact, the Stanford REI Center regularly earns national recognition for research and development in new assisted reproductive technologies and reproductive medicine.
The Stanford REI Center sets the trends and has a great impact on ART through numerous award-winning publications in respected journals like “Human Reproduction, Fertility and Sterility”, which were the subject of many press releases. We have had numerous speakers and presenters at national and international fertility meetings.
The REI Center is one of the largest in the western United States, serving approximately 20,000 patients a year. We specialize in cutting-edge technology (laser, genetic disease, chromosomal abnormalities and oocyte cryopreservation). We have the newest and most innovative research as well as many innovative options for cancer patients. We have multidisciplinary coordination with Stanford geneticists and urologists as well as access to perinatal diagnosis and pre-implantation genetics.
The REI Center physicians, nurses and laboratory staff are recognized and published experts on many aspects of reproductive endocrinology. We practice non-discriminatory philosophy for patient selection and treatment, seeing patients who have been refused at other centers. We offer emotional support programs that are an integral part of our treatment. We have an on-site psychologist, three Ph.D.-prepared embryologists as well as four advance-practice nurses. Our nursing staff is culturally diverse and has an average of 8 years of fertility experience. Our nursing, physician and laboratory staff have unparalleled coordination in their interactions.
