Specialized Cooperative Centers Program in Reproduction and Infertility Research
The Stanford University Center for Reproductive and Stem Cell Biology belongs to a national network of research-based SCCPIR centers supported by NICHD (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development) that promotes multidisciplinary interactions between basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality translational research programs in the reproductive sciences.
Objective
The objective of The Stanford University Center for Reproductive and Stem Cell Biology is to promote scientific excellence in translational science via well-designed studies of human germ cell development, based on a foundation of knowledge in model systems, and culminating with applications that address critical clinical needs. To accomplish the objective, we have three projects, a pilot project, and four cores. We also present opportunities for a translational pilot project. The projects are:
- Project I) Germ Cell Differentiation from Human iPSCs and hESCs (Reijo Pera)
- Project II) Translational Regulation of Meiotic Cell Cycle Onset and Progression in the Male (Fuller)
- Project III) Derivation of Mature Human Oocytes from Primordial Follicles (Hsueh)
- Pilot Project) Regulation of Translational Control in the Oocyte to Embryo Transition (Vittorio Sebastiano)
We also have a translational pilot project entitled: Translational Studies of Primary Ovarian Insufficiency" (Valerie Baker)
