Oncology
The Gynecologic Oncology program at Stanford offers comprehensive cancer
treatment using a multidisciplinary approach. We offer state of the art
treatment modalities in a caring, personalized environment. The Division
of Gynecologic Oncology participates in several national and international
clinical trials of novel therapies in the treatment of reproductive cancers.
Our patients benefit from the expertise of a highly experienced, interdisciplinary
treatment team including Gynecologic Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists,
Medical Oncologists, Specialized Oncology Nurses and Social Workers. This
team is dedicated to providing the best care while recognizing and helping
with the emotional and social aspects of a cancer diagnosis. Stanford offers
a multitude of support services for patients and their families.
Each patient’s treatment plan is individualized and developed in
collaboration with the referring physician. The attending physician personally
oversees the care and management of every patient and remains in close
contact with the referring physicians for the duration of care. The attending
physicians and oncology nurses remain available to patients at all times
during their care.
The physicians in the Division provide care for women with:
- Cervical Cancer
- Endometrial/Uterine Cancer
- Ovarian Cancer
- Vulvar/Vaginal Cancer
- Preinvasive Conditions / Dysplasia of Vulva or Cervix / Colposcopy
- Trophoblastic Disease / Molar pregnancies
State of the art surgical treatment includes:
- Intraoperative radiation therapy
- Laparoscopic surgery
- Advanced reconstructive and complex pelvic surgery
